posted Sep 21, 2016, 10:59 AM by Aaron Dengler

Update for FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. teams using WeDo 2.0
Good news for Windows users: LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 is now on Windows 10!
It is easier now to connect to the Smarthub as the Windows 10 app allows pairing to take place inside the application. Another highlight is that with the Windows 10 app it is now possible to connect up to 3 Smarthubs at a time. We recommend you update to Windows 10 as soon as possible and please remember to remove any previous versions before updating.

You can download the WeDo 2.0 app from the Windows 10 Store:

Please visit the LEGO Education website for further information:

Monsanto offering FIRST Team Grants!

posted Aug 8, 2016, 4:02 PM by Aaron Dengler   [ updated Aug 8, 2016, 4:10 PM ]

The Monsanto Fund supports FIRST Robotics teams in communities where Monsanto employees live and work to inspire and nurture students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

FIRST’s mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build the skills needed, inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Who can apply:

Eligible teams include

  • FRC, FTC, FLL and FLL Jr. teams – grades K through 12th
  • Hawaii teams from Maui, Molokai, or Oahu only.
  • We prioritize teams that demonstrate diversity to maximize impact. Examples are female led teams, racially or gender diverse teams and economically diverse teams.

What is the size of the grant?

  • A FRC Rookie Team can apply for a $6,000 grant
  • A FRC Veteran Team can apply for a $5,000 grant
  • A FTC Team can apply for a $1,500 grant
  • A FLL Team can apply for a $300 grant
  • A FLL Junior Team can apply for a $300 grant

Who will select the winning teams?

A team of Monsanto Company employees who have experience with FIRST Robotics programs will be reading and scoring every application submitted.  This team will work together to select the winning teams, with a focus on supporting at least one team in each Monsanto community and teams that show diversity in gender, race/ethnicity and a high need for funding. Funding decisions will be communicated to all applicants in early November.

Visit the Monsanto Grants site to apply: http://monsantofund.org/grants/first-robotics/

If you are an organization looking for support for multiple FIRST teams, please contact us for application instructions at USGrantQuestions@Monsanto.com.
